Mayor of Clare says fourth seat too close to call

Mayor of Clare Christy Curtin has predicted there will be little between the contenders for the fourth seat.

He said that Michael McNamara had done extremely well. “It was a unique performance, the vote that he got. Obviously it’s a reflection on the man himself and the party that he represents. “

It’s still hard to call the race for the final seat, he added. “I’m only speculating, you can never be certain about tallies and the question of eliminations comes into it. I’d be very slow to call it. Pat Breen, McNamara and Joe Carey should get in and after that it’s a dog fight.”

He said that one of the Fianna Fáil candidates should get over the line if the votes transfer between the candidates.
