Niamh Parsons and Graham Dunne will entertain an audience at the Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon, on Thursday night.
For the last 10 years, Niamh, whose mother hails from West Clare, has been playing in a duet with Kilnamona-based Graham Dunne. There is a spiritual bond between Niamh and Graham when they perform, which draws out the essence of the songs.
Niamh has come to be known as one of the most distinctive voices in Irish music, described in the Boston Herald as emotionally haunting. She has recorded six studio albums and one live album to date. This is a body of work that has proven Niamh Parsons one of the premier vocalists of her time and a keeper of the flame in Irish traditional song.
Guitarist Graham Dunne is known for his sensitivity of touch as an accompanist and fiery ability as a soloist. He released his first solo CD – Giotáraí – on his own label, Gramsham Records.
Niamh has played with The Loose Connections, Arcady, Paris-based Caliana, New York-based Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul and has toured with Graham throughout USA, UK, Europe and Australia.
In one review, John Venditti enthused, “A unique combination. A strong, rich and vibrant Celtic voice and a mellow but lively acoustic guitarist with pleasant strains of Brazil and Argentina. Niamh and Graham were truly heartfelt musicians, really reaching deep into the heart and soul.”
