Lismadine Jack wins Shelbourne qualifier

The Clare-owned Lismadine Jack won the feature race, The Betfair 575, at the Galway Greyhound Racing Stadium last Friday night. The winner qualfiies to represent the track in the Betfair 600 at Shelbourne Park.
Owned by Patrick Troy from near Kilkee and Conor McInerney, Clarecastle, Lismadine Jack (Droopys Vieri-Clonreddan) was drawn in trap three. When the traps lifted the Broadford-owned Glitter Breeze, in trap one, Lismadine Jack and Kildroum Impact, the 7/4 favourtite, in trap six, were well away.
However, in the long run to the opening bend Kildroum Impact receieved a hefty bump which effectively ended his chances. As the race progressed to the half-way stage Lismadine Jack was moving well to go three-lengths clear.
Coming from the back he had extended his lead to four lengths from the Ennis owned I Remember Paddy, in trap two, and although his lead was eaten into in the run home, Lismadine Jack had sufficient in reserve to hold off I Remember Paddy (Frankie Sheehan, Ennis) by two-and-a-half lengths. His clock was 31.91.
Gort owner, John Quinn was also a big winner in Galway on Friday night night, Sellout Fast Fit, which he owns with Peter Connolly, winning the Fundraising At the Dogs A4 final from the West Clare owned Master Slick and Clapton Master. This was a very impressive trap-to-line win for the son of Killahan Phanter-Posh Again, in trap six. He was first to show, gaining a two-length lead on Master Slick at the opening bend with Clapton Master in third place.
However, when the field tightened up coming to the second last bend. Sellout Fast Fit, in trap six, kicked clear again to win by two and a quarter lengths in 29.24 from Tommie Gallagher’s Master Slick Beaten a neck into third place was the joint 7/4 favourite, Clapton Master, owned in Kilmihil by Martin J Keane.
The second last race on the 12 card race, an A3-graded 525, went to North Clare, Fanore Mac, in trap three, doing the business for Fanore owner, PJ O’Donoghue and trainer, David Lavelle. The Limerick reserve runner, in trap one, Rubber Bandit, showed the way to lead by a length from the Ennis-owned Blaze Ken. As they passed the half way stage, Rubber Bandit was still forcing the pace but Fanore Mac was closing in. By the third bend, the son of Elite State-Lake Lodge had taken over in front. However, Blaze Ken, in trap four, was not finished and came close with his late challenge.
Nonetheless. Fanore Mac held out to win by half-a-length in 29.56 from Blaze Ken owned by Anthony Brigdale and Margaret Byrne. Three parts of a length back for third place was Rubber Bandit.
Three Clare-owned dogs will contest the final of the Benefit Nights A8 Stake final, the semi-finals of which were decided last Friday night.
In the opening semi final, the Pat Guilfoyle-trained Twosugarsalice went off the hot 4/6 favourite in trap four but the son of Premier Fantasy and Ms Firecracker was not too fast away, giving reserve runner, in trap three, Fanore Rebel and Magical Lar, in trap six, the lead in the run to the opening bend.
Rounding the bend, Twosugarsalice started to come through the field and as they entered the back straight he went up a gear to go three lengths clear of his rivals passing halfway. He remained out in front to win by four and a quarter lengths in a time of 29.36 from Fanore Rebel, owned  PJ O’Donoghue, Fanore. Third place was filled by Killuran Polly owned by Master Garry Cooney, Broadford.

Going two lengths clear after the opening bend, Scotish Deal (Kinloch Brae-Quick Deal) was challenged in the run home by Bees Wing, who switched outside.
