Limerick too strong in Oscar Traynor encounter

Limerick 4
Clare 0

CLARE’S chances of progressing to the next phase of the Oscar Traynor Cup (Inter-League Junior Coccer) suffered a blow at Jackman Park in Limerick on Wednesday.

Two goals in each half gave a stronger and more experienced Limerick side the victory.
Clare still have a chance to qualifying but to do so, they will have to defeat Galway in the remaining group game, which will take place at a Clare venue next month.
Limerick took the lead after 15 minutes and struck a decisive blow a minute from the break with their second. They held the upperhand in the midfield exchanges and created the greater number of chances.
Clare’s chances of getting back into contention were dashed with the winners’ third and they wrapped up proceedings a minute from the end with their fourth.
Clare: John Healy (Avenue Utd); Mattie Nugent (Avenue Utd), David Russell (Avenue Utd), Darren Murphy (Bridge Utd); Darren Cullinan (Newmarket Celtic), Jay Regan (Shannon Olympic), Daryl Eade (Ennis Town Rock), Patrick Darcy (Lifford), Dave McCarthy (Avenue Utd), Eoin Hayes (Newmarket Celtic), Colin Ryan (Newmarket Celtic). Subs: Eoin Glynn (Ennis Town Rock) for Regan; Con Collins (Avenue) for McCarthy; Ryan Boyle (Lifford) for Hayes.
