Liam Óg lines out for Ireland


Ennis man Liam Óg Murphy has been enjoying great success with Munster and Ireland rugby sides in recent times.
After playing with Munster U-18s, he received a scholarship to St Munchin’s College, where he won a Munster Senior Schools Cup. Current Irish centre Keith Earls was on the same team.
Liam has played in two junior world cups, He presently plays senior rugby at number six for his club, Young Munster.
Last year, he played international club rugby, earning two caps.
Two weeks ago in Dublin, he came on at half-time when Ireland beat Scotland 26-21 while he played the full game in Ireland’s 32-16 defeat against England on March 16 in England.
Liam Óg started his rugby career with Ennis.

Ennis beat Canadian visitors

Ennis U-17 and U-18 squads recently played host to a touring team for Canada, Okanagan Secondary School.
This was a very entertaining game and started with a penalty being scored by the visitors. Ennis then started to get a grip on the game and scored a try under the posts, which was converted. Scores were then exchanged and at half-time Ennis were ahead by two tries.
The second half also got off to a good start for the home team, who scored an early try. The game was played in a great spirit by both teams.
Ennis ran out winners in the end and afterwards there was a presentation in the clubhouse attended by both teams.
Underage blitz
The Ennis U-6 and U-7 squads travelled to Clifford Park in Limerick on Sunday for a blitz hosted by Young Munsters.
In beautiful weather conditions, Ennis split into two teams for the outing. 
The members of the teams are listed below.
Green team: Jack O’Connor, Jonathan O’Donoghue, Alex Fitzpatrick, Frank Coffey, Aidan Keating, Tom Curran, Sean McAllister, Eoin Fredj and Luca Cleary.
Blue team: Sam Scanlon, Conor Hurley, Cormac Goggin, Cormac Maher, Eoin Lahiffe, Marco Cleary, Daniel O’Toole and Paddy McGuinness.
There will be no match or training this weekend or the following weekend before the squad re-groups at the end of season.
