Landowners warned over hedge deadline

Landowners with road frontage in East Clare are being advised to consider carrying out hedge cutting works ahead of the restriction period for such works, which kicks off next month.

Whitegate councillor Pat Burke is fearful that there will be no extra funding available for hedge cutting by Clare County Council in the coming year and is urging the public to spring to action to ensure the roads remain safe for road users.
“There is no shortage of hedge-cutting contractors in the East Clare Area and farmers and landowners with lands adjoining the public road, whether regional or local, might be pleasantly surprised how much work they can get done for relatively small money. It is not as if every farmer has a couple of miles of road frontage,” Councillor Burke said.
The restricted period for carrying out hedge cutting works is from March 1, to August 31.
