Kilmurry-Ibrickane through to Cusack Cup final

KILMURRY-Ibrickane eased into the Cusack Cup final when they comprehensively disposed of neighbours Miltown on Bank Holiday Monday.

Miltown midfielder Conor Cleary was his side’s only scorer in the opening half, pointing from a free.

The game was held up for eight minutes after just three minutes when Evan Talty sustained an injury, which forced him to leave the field.
Peter O’Dwyer, on a substitute, kicked two second-half points for the winners, with McCarthy and substitute Niall Hickey adding a brace each, as McInerney pointed two frees.

Miltown substitute Michael Barry scored his side’s goal late in the half, while Conor Cleary pointed two frees. Micheál Malone put over two points, with Dessie Molohan and Kevin Keavey adding a point each for a Miltown side, which lost Seanie Malone to injury.

LISSYCASEY booked a place in the semi-final of the Cusack Cup when they scored a six-point win over St Joseph’s at Lissycasey on Thursday evening.
The home side struggled in a low-scoring opening half at the end of which, the teams were level at 0-4 each. Lissycasey stepped up considerably in the second half and 1-3 without reply between the fifth and 11th minutes put them on the road to success.

The goal scorer was Niall Kelly who won possession from a Matt O’Shea delivery, to shoot to the corner of the net.
Gerry Moran, Cyril Sheehan, Cathal Doohan, Sean Hayes and substitute Oisín Hanrahan impressed for Lissycasey against what was an understrength St Joseph’s side.

Liscannor 1-9

LISCANNOR will play in the Garry Cup (Division 2) next season after their latest defeat ensured they will be relegated just one season after gaining promotion to the Cusack Cup.
Éire Óg’s win has guaranteed them Cusack Cup action for next season and keeps alive their hopes of making it to this season’s semi-final.

They laid the foundations for this victory in the opening half when they built up an eight-point lead, 0-11 to 0-3.
They continued to hold the upperhand in the second half and were always in control. Liscannor’s goal came in the final minute when Alan Clohessy converted from the penalty spot on a day when all but a point of the North Clare team’s tally came from frees.

Doonbeg 2-5
Ennistymon 1-6

DOONBEG scored a two-point home win over Ennistymon last Friday evening. Playing into a strong wind in the opening half, Doonbeg led 1-4 to 1-3 at half-time.
Seán McConigley scored Ennistymon’s goal early in the game but David Tubridy replied with a like score from the penalty spot shortly before half-time, following a foul on full-forward Enda Doyle.

Michael O’Dwyer, Michael Houlihan and McConigley added Ennistymon’s first half-points, while Tubridy, Conor Downes with two points and Paraic Aherne put over Doonbeg’s four first-half scores.
Doonbeg missed several second-half chances as points from Michael Houlihan and Joe Dowling established a one-point lead for the visitors.

However, Cork man Ronan Goode, who started his first game for Doonbeg since the Newmarket hurler was allowed by the Clare County Board to play football for Doonbeg, netted for his adopted football club. Colm Dillon added a point for the Magpies, while McConigley kicked the last score of the hour for Ennistymon.
Both clubs are now tied on six points alongside and can either reach the semi-final or even be relegated.
