Kilmurry-Ibrickane’s outstanding season was celebrated at Cooney’s in Quilty on Saturday night last, when 220 guests were present to witness the presentation of medals to the senior and junior championship winning teams.
Kerry legend and current Clare senior football manager Mick O’Dwyer was the special guest on the evening. The Waterville man presented the medals and paid tribute to all involved.
Amongst the speakers on the night was senior team manager John Kennedy, another former Kerry star who played at wing-forward in the All-Ireland winning side coached by O’Dwyer in the mid-80s.
Kennedy and the members of his management team were honoured by the club, as was junior manager Kevin Hanrahan and the members of his management team. Both Kennedy and Hanrahan addressed the attendance as did club chairman Martin Lynch.
Club vice-chairman Tommy Galvin made a presentation to O’Dwyer. The gathering was also addressed by former Clare GAA chairman Michael O’Neill and newly elected chairman Michael McDonagh.
