Kilmaley on top in U-16 thriller

Kilmaley got their U-16A championship back on track in a thrilling contest against Inis Cealtra (East Clare amalgamation) in Kilmaley on Tuesday evening.
In one of the highest scoring matches ever to take place in Kilmaley, supporters of both sides were served up a classic with some fantastic individual performances. Kilmaley played with the aid of a breeze in the first half but yet found themselves 1-3 to 0-1 down inside the first five minutes. However, the Kilmaley half-back line got back on top and two great goals from Michael O’Malley put then in front for the first time. Points from Conor Finnucane, Cian Moloney, Padraic McNamara and Cillian Normoyle ensured that Kilmaley led at half-time on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-7.
Inis Cealtra started the second half very well with Barry Nash and Finbarr Kiely on top in defence and they managed to reduce the arrears to one point with some great scores. Kilmaley, however, managed to get back on top again after a well taken Cian Moloney goal and with Finnucane adding some further scores, finishing with an impressive tally of 0-6 from play, Kilmaley managed to stay the crucial four points ahead to secure the points.
Best for the East Clare side were Barry Nash, Nicholas Peacock, Adrian O’Grady, James Kiely, Finbarr Kiely and Ronan Corry.
Best for Kilmaley were Conor Finnucane, Michael O’Malley, Cian Moloney, Aidan McGuane, Eoin Keane, Brain Colleran and Padraig McNamara.
