Kilkishen move up to second place

Coole FC 1   Kilkishen Celtic 2

KILKISHEN Celtic travelled to Gort on Sunday and scored a tremendous win over the home side, a result that has moved the visitors up to second on the league table.

The winners played with a strong wind in the first half and created very few chances, finding it difficult to play with the wind.

The first half was scoreless but both sides did have opportunities. Coole’s best chance in the opening half was a great 25 yard volley by Dave Cahill, which was saved superbly at the near post by Kilkishen’s keeper, Paul Tuohy. There were also half chances for Thiago and Savio, which the keeper also dealt with.

Kikishen tested the home ’keeper Chris Reilly, who made two fine saves low down to his right.

Kilkishen started brightly in the second half and created some early chances and after a good move between Shane McInerney, Noel Kearse and Paul Murphy, the latter finished very well. A second goal soon followed when a well-taken free kick by Shane McInerney was well finished by Paul Murphy. Coole struck back immediately with a very well taken goal from Thiago. Subsequently, both teams created good chances but Kilkishen held out for a well deserved victory.

Once again, conceding the first goal in a game proved costly for Coole, something that will have to be eradicated if the team is to return to winning games. Best for Coole were Fintan McNamara, Thiago Morais and James Kerins.
