Kíla head to Kilfenora

IRISH band Kíla are coming to Clare as part of their Irish tour following the release of their Best Of album.
The band will take to the stage in Vaughan’s Barn, Kilfenora this Saturday for an intimate gig. Proceeds from the event will go towards Mol an Óige School in Ennistymon.
A globetrotting outfit almost since their inception in the late-1980s, Kíla have captured as many fans abroad as in Ireland. Their Irish tour follows a summer of travelling, where the group has toured across Europe and Scandinavia. The band’s live performances, a fusion of many styles of music over a foundation of Irish traditional, and their use of the Irish language, has gained them fans and respect across the globe.
Kíla maintained their independence and individuality by setting up their own label in 1991, which has allowed them to grow into their own mini-industry.
Those attending in Vaughan’s will be treated to much from their Best Of album, a double CD containing tracks recorded between 1991 and 2009. Favourites such as tribal anthem Bí Ann, Pacabel’s Canon, Leath ina Dhiaidh a hOcht and Tóg é go Bóg é are well known tracks that feature on the new album.
Kíla members include three Ó Snodaigh brothers, Colm, Rónán and Ross, Hogan brothers, Lance and Brian, Eoin Dillon and Deirdre Armstrong.
Collaboration and an openness to different musical influences has become an enduring philosophy with Kíla. In recent times the group have worked with notable Indian tabla player, producer, actor and soundtrack composer Zakir Hussain, as well as being invited to perform with U2 and The Dubliners among others on The Ballad Of Ronnie Drew, as well as releasing an album with Japanese  musician Oki.
Doors open at 8.30pm and tickets are available from Vaughan’s Kilfenora, Custy’s in Ennis, Crosby’s Ennistymon and Cooley’s in Ennistymon.
