FORMER Kerry All-Ireland senior football medal winner, John Kennedy will be in charge of Kilmurry-Ibrickane senior footballers over the next couple of months.
Earlier this season, the former Clare manager’s name was linked with the West Clare club but when they revealed their management team for 2011, Ger Lawlor was named as the head man.
“Ger Lawlor will be unavoidably absent for the next eight to 10 weeks and John Kennedy has agreed to assist in the preparation of the team for the championship,” club chairman, Ger Talty told The Clare Champion this week.
Kennedy, from Asdee in North Kerry, took charge of Kilmurry training on Tuesday. Earlier this year, Kennedy managed the Kerry U-21 team and he recently completed a couple of seasons as manager of the Kingdom minor footballers.
His first competitive tie with Kilmurry-Ibrickane will be on Saturday week, when they take on Kilmihil in the opening round of the Clare Senior Football Championship.
