The team which Davy Fitzgerald has named to face Tipperary in this Sunday’s hurling league clash at Thurles shows three changes in personnel to that which lined out against Dublin last time out.
All three changes are in attack but, surprisingly, there is no place in the starting team for dual player Podge Collins whom Fitzgerald did not release to the footballers who also play Tipperary this week.
Omitted from the starting line up are hurler of the year Tony Kelly, All-Ireland final hat trick hero Shane O’Donnell and Sixmilebridge man Shane Golden and they are replaced by Darach Honan who will start his first game since the drawn All-Ireland final, Cathal ‘tots’ O’Connell and Peter Duggan.
Duggan will lead the attack with Honan and his Clonlara clubmate O’Connell, flanking Conor McGrath in the full forward line.
The team is; Donal Tuohy; Seadna Morey, Cian Dillon, David McInerney; Brendan Bugler, Conor Ryan, Pat O’Connor; Pat Donnellan (capt) Colm Galvin; John Conlon, Peter Duggan, Colin Ryan; Darach Honan, Conor McGrath, Cathal O’Connell
