Jedward reveal the secret of that hair

CHARTTOPPERS Jedward have a fashion sense that is very much their own.
“I wouldn’t say we’re actually really fashionable. We just wear what we like and some people think it’s cool. We do kind of make a statement with our clothes, which tells people that we are different, because we don’t want to be the same as everyone else. It’s so boring when you see loads of guys wearing the same things just because it’s in, or whatever, and especially with girls. Sometimes girls wear things and they don’t even suit them but they just wear them because magazines have photos of celebrities wearing something like it but these girls should get real and wear what they like themselves,” Edward commented.
John admitted that some of what they wear these days are clothes that their fans gave them.
“Yeah, we get girls coming up to us just handing us a t-shirt and saying please wear it, so we do. Both of the t-shirts we’re wearing today are from fans,” he added.
John was wearing a white, fitted, slightly v-necked t-shirt, with a picture of a converse boot on it. “Some kid in Dublin just walked up to us with this t-shirt and said she wanted us to have it because we always wear converse,” he said.
“We always wear kind of converse, boot runner shoes, because they are comfy and cool looking. Even if we’ve to dress up smart or something, it’s hard to get us out of our boots,” Edward added.
The twins also like skinny jeans. “They are cool and we wear them lots but don’t really wear any other kind of jeans. Not every guy likes wearing skinny jeans but we do. At home, we just wear the same kind of jeans and t-shirts too, nothing really different,” John said.
They said they haven’t really changed their dress sense at all since their rise to fame. “We do get some free clothes now, so it’s kind of cool because we’re not spending our pocket money on clothes.”
And on to the million-dollar question  what do Jedward use in their hair? Edward told all.
“Basically, we have to totally wash our hair to get rid of all of the stuff out of it and get it right down flat. We just use normal shampoo, like stuff we’d buy in the supermarket, or whatever our mum had bought. Then, when it’s washed, we put lots of mousse in. Then we rinse it again and we put other stuff in it to make it really stick up. Then we get a big round brush and pull it right up and separate it with this can of stuff, which is a spray and put loads of it in to make it stay standing up. We use this jelly thing called Bumble Bumble, which is the only thing that makes it stay up like this.”
They don’t actually know the brand names of any of the stuff they do use, apart from Bumble Bumble.
“We can’t recommend any particular product except Bumble Bumble products because otherwise we just use what we have. We’d recommend anything that someone might sponsor us to recommend,” John joked.
Edward added, “Then to finish off our hair, we keep blow drying, blowdrying and blowdrying because the heat keeps it up too, pulling it in all different directions. And then when it’s all stiff from the heat and product, we pull it back up right into the position where it stands right up.”
The boys said that they still do their own hair, despite efforts by hairdressers to emulate their style.
“Nobody else could do it like we do. We often wore our hair like this before the show too. Lots of girls took pictures of us before we were even famous before, just because they thought our hair was cool. Now we seem to have started a bit of a craze because more and more guys are pulling their hair up a bit, not up as high as we do, but up a bit anyway,” John remarked.
