Inagh man shortlisted for book award

INAGH resident Patrick Moloney was named as a finalist in the JPX Media Group International Book Awards.
His book is called Gun Dan-An Angel for Everyone and he was entered in the Christian Inspirational category.
Patrick is originally from Limerick but worked in Dublin as a philosophy teacher before retiring to Inagh.
“When I wrote the book, it was very low profile. It was self-published in America at the end of November and afterwards, I set up a website,” said Patrick last Thursday.
He began writing as a pastime and then started work on his book, which is partly inspired by Plato’s Republic, although set in Clare rather than Athens.
“It has a strongly pro-Christian argument and it’s intended for an audience of people, who wouldn’t think too deeply about the importance of religion. It’s a book of discussion and I’d hope it’d help people to clarify their own ideas and challenge them to think a little bit more. It’s a philosophy book with a small ‘p’,” he says.
Patrick said he was delighted with the recognition. “The judges must have been impressed and that pleases me no end. It opens up the opportunity for the book to do much better, it’s only at the start of its publishing life.”
