Corofin Harps 1 Connolly Celtic 0

COROFIN Harps kept up their challenge for league honours with a hard-earned win over Connolly Celtic. The decisive goal came inside the last 10 minutes when John Keane headed to the net following a long throw by Ronnie Meere.
In the remaining time, Connolly piled on the pressure but the Corofin defence held firm. This win, allied to the defeat suffered by neighbours Burren United, has strengthened Corofin’s chances of taking the runners-up spot behind leaders Shannon Olympic A, who remain the clear leaders in this race.

Shannon Olympic 3 Sporting Ennistymon 0

SHANNON Olympic A retained their place at the top of the first division with a 3-0 win at home against Sporting Ennistymon.
They started the game well and a shot from Olympic’s Jay Regan just went over the bar in the first five minutes. Over the next 20 minutes Olympic squandered three goal chances before a free kick from Ennistymon’s Alan Sexton narrowly missed the target.
Fourteen minutes before the end of the first half, after a confrontation with Olympic full-back David Collins, Alan Sexton was sent off. This was a big blow to Ennistymon and led to Olympic growing in confidence leading into the second half, which turned into a one-sided affair with Olympic claiming three headed goals from Wayne and Jay Regan and Donncadh Kelly.
Best performers on the day were Karl Scott and David Collins.
