‘Hucklebuck Brendan relives Showband era

THE celebrated Brendan Bowyer will play at the Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick this Saturday night.
The Waterford native first came to prominence in the late 1950s when he was the lead singer in the Royal Showband.
His recordings with the Royals included number-one hits like Kiss Me Quick, No More, Bless You and The Hucklebuck.
Bowyer was probably the most popular Irish vocalist of the 1960s and in 1971, he left the Royal to join the Big 8 and he followed his mentor Elvis Presley onto the Las Vegas circuit.
He has remained active in music ever since, has appeared on The Late Late Show 11 times and has played many of the world’s top venues.
