The AIMS were attended by close to 1,000 people and adjudicators travelled all over the country to view almost 90 shows.
Mary Forde, PRO of the society, said the award was the culmination of a great year.
“We’re delighted with this. The show was a great success, we actually had to put on extra shows,” she commented.
Ms Forde said that the award recognised the work of Claire Kirwan, who had been in charge of front of house and all her team.
Shannon Musical Society is to perform The Wedding Singer in 2011, with local man Aodán Fox as producer.
Plans have been made for an open night in early September and Ms Forde said that new volunteers are very welcome.
“It’s not just for people who will appear on stage, there are all sorts of roles. Anyone who could sell a ticket, drive a nail or sweep a floor would be welcome.” For further details, contact Mary on 086 3045471.
