History is made with junior Lough Derg FC team

The first Lough Derg FC (Ballina/Killaloe) game of the 2012/13 season took place last Wednesday at Clarisford at 8pm.

A Lough Derg FC men’s junior team (aged over 18 years) played a North Tipperary and District League Premier Division Shield game against BT Harps.
This is the first season in the club’s 10-year playing history (since its foundation in January 2002) that a junior team took to the field under the Lough Derg FC banner.
The club committee has asked that anyone who wishes to become involved in coaching are asked to contact a committee member to discuss how and where they can become involved.
The 2012/13 incoming committee contact details are listed on the club website at www.loughdergfc.ie. An email link to contact the committee is also available.
It must be noted that the ability to field teams at some age levels may be impacted by the lack of coaches. While huge strides are being made off the pitch in developing and providing playing/training community facilities at Clarisford, the need for new coaches to become involved every year is always a huge priority for the club.
In other club news, Lough Derg U-13 player Jack Lynch is part of a North Tipperary Boys’ League squad who are taking part in the Umbro Galway Cup this week at Salthill Devon FC in Galway.
Jack was also part of the recent NTSFL U-13 squad that took part and won a friendly tournament with their counterparts from Kildare and Carlow in Naas.
The hugely popular FAI soccer skills summer camp was held last week at St Anne’s Community College in Killaloe, where 75 children aged six to 14 took part.
