High-tech changes at Shannon

THIS is a landmark year for Shannon, as aside from its separation from the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), its online presence has just improved with the launch of an app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, as well as a revamped website, www.shannonairport.ie.

The website and the app will provide airport customers with information on everything from planning their trips, to boarding their aircraft at the airport.

Airport director Mary Considine said, “The launch is about enhancing the customer experience at Shannon. One of the airport’s great strengths over the years has been the convenience and accessibility it offers and the new website and app is an extension of that.

“Nowadays, the experience for the aircraft passenger starts with your website and runs right through to boarding an aircraft. Improving the customer experience is something we are even more determined to do as an independent entity.”

The information on the new website is broken down into four key steps: plan, prepare, park and relax. It has an enhanced timetable section to include connecting flights with low-cost airlines. This allows customers to see a full range of options before flying from Shannon.

The app contains live information on arrivals and departures, travel advisory notifications, information on which airlines fly to and from the airport, car parking information and tips for passengers with reduced mobility.

It can be downloaded on www.shannonairport.ie while QR codes, which can be scanned to download it, will be available at strategic locations throughout the airport and incorporated into future advertising campaigns.
A new promotional video on Shannon has also been made and can be viewed on youtube.
