High standard at soccer finals

The Clare Community Games’ first competition for 2013 took place over the past two weekends in St Flannan’s College.

This included a new competition for U-10 boys and girls in indoor soccer, replacing the U-15 age group.  While the entry was low, the standard was extremely high in the girls’ competition.  It was coordinated by Flan Brennan.

The final was contested by Quin/Clooney and Ennis. It was a very close match, with Quin/Clooney edging ahead to win on a score of 3-1 in the final minutes. Quin/Clooney now go forward to represent Clare in the Munster finals in Tralee on Saturday, March 30.

U-13 girls

In the girls’ U-13 competition, seven teams took part. This was a very exciting, competitive event, with some very close encounters.  Ennis B beat Killimer/Knockerra 5-3, Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry won 2-1 over Quin/Clooney and Ennis St John’s A overcame Doora/Barefield 3-1. In the semi-finals, Ennis St John’s B beat An Droichead 1-0 while Ennis St John’s A beat Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry 2-1, leaving the two Ennis St John’s teams to contest the final, which has yet to be played. Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry won bronze medals by narrowly beating An Droichead 2-1.

Ennis St John’s B: Ciara McMahon, Emma Ekiebey, Treacy Ugwueru, Felecia Junald, Sarah Mulvihill, Raisa Mbou, Angel Nwaigwe and Chispm Ugwueru.
Ennis St John’s A: Aisling Kenneally, Emmanuela Olowoake, Niamh Fox, Ijeoma Okeyenbalor, Sinéad Conway, Niamh Kelly, Áine Donegan and Amy Horgan.
Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry: Ruth O’Neill, Róisín McMahon, Áine Healy, Zoe Merriman, Ciara Whyte, Sinéad Cahill, Karolina Moswawa and Rosie Young.
An Droichead: Katie Conlan, Alice Gleeson, Emma Finnin, Molly Fennessy, Amy Guerin, Ann Marie Howard, Susan O’Shea and Emma Spaight.

U-13 boys

In the boys’ U-13 competition, 12 teams took part.  This was a very good competition involving some of the most skillful players in the county. Broadford/Kilbane/Kilmore came out winners from Ennis St Johns A, with the two Cooraclare/Cree teams filling third and fourth spots.

Broadford/Kilbane/Kilmore: Cian Mulqueen, Patrick Donellan, Shane Quin Tuite, James Vaughan, Conor Phelan, Darren McNamara, James Hannon.
Ennis St John’s A: Caldwell Rynne, Dylan Coughlan, Stephan Kennedy, Darren Obrien and Efosa O’Saretin.
Cooraclare/Cree A:
Padí Hehir, Dean Cunningham, Shane Lillis, Pádraig Odonaghue, Micheal Lillis, John Lillis, Brian McNamara and Micheal Garry.
Cooraclare Cree B: Aaron McNulty, Colm Browne, Garry Cunningham, Pádraig Browne, Oisín Morrissy, Niall Keane and Ronan Donnellan.

U-10 boys

Last Saturday, it was the turn of the U-10 boys in which seven teams took part.  In the semi-final, Ennis St John’s B and Killimer/Knockerra finished 3-3 at full-time, with the Ennis St John’s side winning 4-3 on penalties after extra-time.

Ennis St John’s A beat Kilmurry McMahon in the other semi-final, leaving an all-Ennis final.  Kilmurry McMahon won the bronze by beating Killimer/Knockera 2-1.  Ennis St John’s A beat Ennis St John’s B 4-1 after extra-time to win the coveted gold medals and a chance to represent Clare in the Munster finals.

3. Kilmurry McMahon:
Aaron Lee McMahon, Ethan McMahon, Damien Downes, Jack McCarthy, Tadhg Kelly, Micheal Kelleher, Jack Kelleher and Ronan Davis.
4. Killimer/Knockerra: Cian Corry, Adam O’Driscoll, Fiachra McKeown, Daniel Moloney and Odhran Cunningham
