Gripped by final fever

CLARE GAA followers have a busy schedule in the next two weeks in support of the county’s hurlers and footballers, as they chase championship glory on several fronts.

Three weeks of major championship action commences this Saturday when friends Anthony Daly and Davy Fitzgerald turn foes for the meeting of Dublin and Clare in the All-Ireland Hurling Qualifier at 7pm. The game will be preceded at 5pm by the meeting of Clare and Galway in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship.
There won’t be much time to discuss the game as fans will have an early start on Sunday as they head to Limerick for the Munster Senior Football Championship final, where Clare play Cork at 2pm.
Clare are the underdogs here, a tag they will also carry next Wednesday evening, when they play Kerry in the provincial junior football final at 7.30pm.
It’s back to hurling on Sunday week when Clare will hope to make history by winning the Munster minor title for a third year in-a-row. They play Tipperary in Páirc Uí Chaoimh at 2pm.
On July 19, the U-21 hurlers face Waterford in the provincial semi-final at Cusack Park. Then, on July 25, the intermediate hurlers will travel to McDonagh Park, Nenagh to play Tipperary in the Munster final. Clare are the defending champions.
