Good wins for Coolmeen

Coolmeen 5-3   Kildysart 1-4

COOLMEEN U-12 ladies had a comprehensive victory over Kildysart last Monday evening. Kildysart were first off the mark with a point from Amy Murphy but Coolmeen responded with an excellent goal from Makayla Normoyle. Murphy scored another two points for Kildysart.Sinéad McCann popped over a point and Makayla Normoyle found the back of the Kildysart net again, leaving the half-time score at Coolmeen 2-1, Kildysart 0-3.

The Coolmeen girls surged forward and scored three fine goals and a point in the second half. The Kildysart girls only managed a consolation goal. It was an excellent overall team performance by the Coolmeen girls, who had outstanding performances from Susan Casey, Megan Clancy and Ailish Kenny in defence, while Makayla Normoyle, Jessica King and Sinéad McCann were excellent in the forwards.

Coolmeen 6-6   Cooraclare 5-7

COOLMEEN U-14 girls had their first win of the championship last Sunday evening when they overcame Cooraclare. Both teams played some great football. Coolmeen scored 1-2 before Cooraclare opened their account.

There was very little between the teams for the rest of the half with Coolmeen having a two-point lead at half-time. Coolmeen scored two goals within the opening minutes but Cooraclare were quick to react and scored two excellent goals of their own. Ruth Finnucane was excellent in goals for Coolmeen as she pulled off some excellent saves.

Outstanding outfield for Coolmeen were Sinéad Reidy, Emma Mc Mahon, Sarah and Sinéad McCann. Impressive for Cooraclare were Sarah Looney, Caoilfhaoinn Morrissey and Megan Downes.
