Goals decisive for Kilmurry-Ibrickane

Kilmurry-Ibrickane proved too strong for Clondegad in Junior A Championship game played on Monday at Labasheeda. Their ability to score goals proved key to their victory, with Paul Murphy, Martin Cahill and Andrew Clancy all finding the net during the course of the tie.

Two of the goals came in the opening half and helped the winners to a seven-point lead at the break, when the score was 2-5 to 0-4. Clondegad fought back strongly on the resumption and cut the deficit to two points but Kilmurry struck for their third goal to seal victory.

Two first-half goals from Aaron Talty sent Lissycasey on the road to a comfortable win over Doonbeg at Labasheeda on Sunday. The goals helped them to an 11-point lead at half-time, when the score was 2-7 to 0-2. Any hope of a Doonbeg fight-back was killed off when Paudie Carmody scored a goal for the winners in the second half.

Ballyvaughan/Fanore travelled to Carron last Sunday morning to take on local rivals, Michael Cusack’s in the first round game.

The game was played at 10am because the wedding of Ballyvaughan captain James Hynes was later that day.
A more determined Ballyvaughan side emerged victorious on a day when they were 1-5 to 0-4 ahead at the interval. They went on to dominate the final period and emerged with a merited win.
