For dresses or tops with heavily embellished necklines, avoid necklaces and chains, instead go for a statement bracelet, cuff or watch or perhaps a gem-encrusted ring.

Despite tightened purse strings, there is plenty of jewellery in the shops at reasonable prices. It doesn’t have to be expensive, costume jewellery is fun and can look just as good and as glamorous as the real thing.
