Gilroy Cup win for Colossal syndicate

MEMBERS of the Colossal syndicate from Ennis and Kilmaley had a rewarding trip to the Trim coursing meeting last Sunday when they won the Gilroy Cup (16 dogs) with Colossal Storm (Cillowen Harbour-Lantern Girl).
Trained by George Gallery, Colossal Store had a bye run in the quarter-finals when Cillowen Noble was withdrawn. In the semi-finals, Gingerbread Man beat County Plan by half a length and Colossal Storm got the flag by five lengths from Cernunnos.
In the final, Colossal Storm came up against the Kilkenny-owned Gingerbread Lad (Mounteden Guest-Vacume Runaway) and pulled away to win by two lengths. Gingerbread Man won the Gilroy Cup last season and went on to qualify for the Champion Stakes when beaten in round one by Party Jay Cee.
