Galway stand between Clare Youths and play-offs

THE Clare Youths side will travel to Galway on this Sunday to play the Connacht outfit in the inter-youths cup. A win for Clare will guarantee them a place in the next stage of the competition as they have already defeated the other team in the group, Roscommon. Sunday’s match will kick off at Terryland Park at 2pm.
Clare won’t finalise their team for this important tie until Sunday morning. This is due to the involvement of Avenue in the National U-17 Cup on Saturday when they play Pike Rovers and quite a number of their team are part of the Clare panel. They include goalkeeper, Nathan Murray, Paddy O’Malley, Kaylan O’Loughlin, Dylan Casey and Nicki Twumasai.
Due to his overseas commitments, Casey wasn’t available for the team’s first-round 1-0 win over Roscommon.
Clare played Galway twice in last year’s competition. After a 2-2 draw in the group stage, Clare beat their neighbours comfortable in the quarter-final before losing out to Kilkenny in the semi-final.
Others that team manager Alfons D’Auria and his backroom team will be looking to include Niall Pender, scorer of the goal that beat Roscommon, Mark Hehir and Emmanuel Obadeyi.
