Gale force winds with gusts of up to 125km/h have caused damage to electricity infrastructure in the Mid-West, South and East of the country. At present, ESB Networks estimate that 45,000 customers are without power in many large towns and environs, including Ennis.
“We are continuously monitoring the situation and updates will be issued,” an ESB spokesman said.
Crews from ESB Networks have been dispatched in the affected areas, making the electricity network safe and are in the process of restoring power as quickly and effectively as possible.
ESB Networks has warned, “ If you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never, ever touch or approach these as they are live and extremely dangerous. Please report any damage to electricity infrastructure by calling 1850 372 999.
