GAA to try to purchase land adjacent to Cusack Park

The May meeting of Clare GAA gave the go ahead to the county executive to pursue the purchase of a plot of land adjacent to Cusack Park.

Requesting permission from the meeting to pursue the purchase of the land, chairman Michael O’Neill told the delegates that “a portion of land near Cusack Park has become available and there is an opportunity to buy it. It is at a sensitive stage at present”.
The meeting unanimously gave the go ahead.
The piece of land in question is at the rear of the Cloister bar and purchase of this plot, believed to be about two acres in size, would help provide further access points to the venue.
The Slattery report, which downgraded the Clare venue’s capacity, claimed that there weren’t enough access points to the grounds to comply with stringent health and safety regulations.
Negotiations are believed to be at an advanced stage with NAMA as regards the purchase of this particular plot of ground.
