WITH most clubs across the county due to hold annual general meetings in the next few weeks, many are currently searching for management teams for their senior sides.
It is expected that most of the county’s senior football clubs will have new managements in 2012. County champions, Kilmurry-Ibrickane have only just finished their season but the expectation is that Kerry’s John Kennedy will continue as team coach for next season.
Neighbours, Cooraclare have already got a new management team, which includes former players, Paddy Keane and Aidan Donnelly, along with former Cork selector, Dave Loughman, who is to be the team coach. Kilmurry-Ibrickane’s Aidan Moloney has been in charge of Cooraclare for the past three years.
Miltown St Joseph’s, whose senior selection committee changed on a couple of occasions last year, are understood to be in discussions with former Clare player and manager, Tommy Curtin about taking charge. The St Flannan’s-based teacher has previously managed his native St Breckan’s and Liscannor to contest Clare senior finals.
St Senan’s, Kilkee; Doonbeg, Lissycasey and Kilrush are all understood to be looking for new managements.
Aidan O’Keeffe (St Senan’s), Kieran O’Mahoney (Doonbeg) Barry Keating and Ger Keane (Lissycasey) and Aidan Daly (Kilrush) are all understood to have indicated that they will not be continuing in these roles in the coming season and officials of the clubs involved are currently seeking replacements.
Newly promoted Clondegad are also looking for a new management team after Dermot Coughlan stepped down after four years as team boss, while former Lissycasey player, Colin Lynch has joined the Ennistymon backroom team for 2012.
In hurling, Kenny Morrissey has stepped down as Clarecastle manager and former player, Martin Sheedy is hotly tipped to take over. Kilmaley are also on the look-out for a new manager after John Carmody stepped down from the post.
