Kilmurry-Ibrickane

KILMURRY Ibrickane senior GAA club held their AGM at the clubhouse last Sunday. Gerard Talty and Michael Considine were returned as chairman and secretary respectively, while Patrick Murrihy and Joe Hurley were appointed as senior team mentors for 2011.
The meeting reflected on the year in which Kilmurry Ibrickane contested the All-Ireland club final in Croke Park on March 17, with former manager Micheál McDermott and selectors Martin Cahill and Gerard McCarthy singled out for their work.
The feat of the girls and the boys’ U-12 teams, who won their respective county championships, were highlighted, as were the U-10s on winning the Canny Cup, the national schools team on winning their schools title and the ladies team, which represented Quilty/Mullagh national schools.
Both the chairperson and secretary paid tribute to all who helped to prepare the teams and also all who coached and trained all other teams in the parish. They also acknowledged all who organised, supported and contributed to the different fundraising events that were held during the year.
Detailed financial reports were delivered by the club treasurer Mary T Lynch, while Josie Coughlan reported on the lotto. Gerard Talty gave an update from the supporters club, while Paul Hickey addressed the meeting with a detailed report from the merchandise outlet.
The following officers were elected for 2010: president, Fr Tim Touhy; vice-presidents, Fr Pat Larkin and John Joe Ryan; chairperson, Gerard Talty; vice-chairperson, Martin Lynch; secretary, Michael Considine; assistant secretary, Claire Considine; treasurer, Mary T Lynch; assistant treasurers, Josie Coughlan and Martin Sexton; registrar, Kevin Killeen; PRO, Gerard Morrissey; youth officer, Anne Hickey; Irish officer, John Daly; purchasing officer, Paul Hickey; field caretaker, Patrick Wickham; development officer, Ciarán O’Dea; county board delegates, Gerard Talty and Michael Considine; county convention delegates, Gerard Talty, Michael Considine and Mary T Lynch.
The senior team mentors for 2011 are Patrick Murrihy and Joe Hurley, while the junior B player/manager is Thomas Power. The mentors for the U-21 and intermediate teams will be appointed at a later date.

Inagh-Kilnamona

THE annual general meeting of Inagh Kilnamona Hurling Club took place in Inagh last Sunday and there was a large crowd in attendance. Chairman Brian Fitzgerald acknowledged all those who supported the club in the last year and those who were involved in hosting Féile in the parish.
He asked all players to give as much of a commitment as possible for the coming year, which in turn would bring further success to the club. He noted the large number of players at underage level and urged as many parents as possible to help out.
He stressed that the finances are an issue for every member and urged all members to get involved in raising funds for the development of the club and its facilities in whatever way they could.
The following officers were elected: president, Nora Rynne; chairperson, Brian Fitzgerald; vice-chairman, Joe Barry; secretary, Lorraine Gannon; assistant secretary, Paul McInerney; joint treasurers, Tommy Keating and Paul Gannon; PRO, David Foudy; children’s officer, Lorraine Gannon and coaching officers, Flan Barry and Enda McGuane.

Banner Club

MEMBERS of the Banner GAA Club will gather at the Woodstock Hotel on Friday night at 8pm for the club’s annual general meeting. The meeting will review the past year and make plans for 2011.

O’Callaghan’s Mills

THE annual meeting of O’Callaghan’s Mills GAA Club will take place on Sunday at 6pm in the GAA clubhouse in Kilkishen. There are a number of positions to be filled, due to members stepping down.
On the night, the launch of the O’Callaghan’s Mills 2011 GAA calender, marking the 125th year of the club, will take place. The production carries pictures, both old and present day, from hurling, football, camogie, handball, athletics and set dancing.

Clarecastle

LAST Sunday’s well attended annual general meeting saw several changes and restructuring of the Clarecastle club executive.
After 11 years of service as secretary and 17 overall on the executive, Greg Fogarty stepped down from the club’s top table, amidst numerous tributes.
His successor, Neville O’Halloran will also oversee a newly implemented secretariat that will comprehensively deal with all aspects of the secretarial/administrative wing of the club as it contends with a rapidly growing membership.
Other new members to the executive for 2011 are Ruairi Concannon, Tommy Hegarty and Pat Barry, who take up the roles of vice-chairman, adult activities officer and field manager respectively.
Chairman Brian McAuliffe reflected on a positive year overall, which saw the underage wing continuing to thrive; the adult playing activities, hurling and football, move in the right direction and several new members getting involved in club activities both on and off the field.
He admitted that the capital debt of €228,000 is the one big issue to be addressed.

Shannon Gaels

THE Shannon Gaels GAA Club annual general meeting was held last Sunday in the clubhouse. The outgoing executive was returned, while management for the adult teams will be appointed in the coming weeks.
The minor club AGM will be held this weekend. The meeting reflected on a year when the senior team reached the Cusack Cup final and were beaten in the championship quarter-final by Doonbeg.
The executive is as follows: chairman, Eamon Keane; vice-chairman, Noel Kennedy; secretary, David O’Connell; assistant secretary and registrar, Niall O’Shea; treasurer, Joe Markham; PRO, Peter O’Connell; Irish officer, Tomás Madigan; lotto co-ordinator, Peter O’Brien; county board delegate, Paudie Neylon.

Doonbeg

AT the Doonbeg Football Club AGM, chairman John Keane paid tribute to the Doonbeg senior team and management, who won the Jack Daly and John O’Gorman Cups, making 2010 the most successful season for a decade.
He also paid tribute to the Doonbeg underage teams and their selectors, especially the U-16 and U-13 sides, who won their respective championships. The reports of the club secretary and treasurers were unanimously adopted and plans for the coming year were put in place.
The following were elected for the upcoming season: life president, Padraig Haugh; president, Fr Joseph Haugh; vice-presidents, JJ Downes, Padraig Haugh, Joe Hurley and Murt McInerney; chairman, John Keane; vice-chairman, Brian Shanahan; secretary, Nuala Shanahan; assistant secretary, Lorraine Tubridy; treasurer, Nuala Hayes; assistant treasurer, Murt McInerney; registrars, Brian Shanahan and Lorraine Tubridy, PRO, Joe Hurley; players’ representatives, Philip Smith; children’s officer, Bernie Capon; county board delegate, Michael Neenan and coaching officer, Michael Griffin.
The selection committees for all teams will be appointed at a club meeting in January. Preparations for the club’s annual dinner social in Doonbeg Golf Club on Wednesday, December 29 continue apace.
