Shannon Gaels/Kilmihil recorded their fourth victory in U-16B when they accounted for Corofin on Saturday at Kilmihil.
Corofin, playing with the breeze in the first half, opened the scoring with a point from a free by David Ruane.
Darragh Bohannon got a point back for the Gaels/Kilmihil before Corofin went ahead again in the 12th minute with a point from a free, again by David Ruane. Chris O’Connor then got the Gaels-Kilmihil’s first goal before Corofin’s Damien O’Loughlin got a point from play, followed by another point from a free by David Ruane. David Killeen for the Gaels/Kilmihil and Damien O’Loughlin for Corofin got the last two scores of the half to leave the sides level at 1-2 to 0-5 at the break.
On the resumption, the Gaels/Kilmihil stepped up a gear with an early point from Darragh Bohannon followed by a goal for David Killeen. Sean Moynihan got a point back for Corofin before Chris O’Connor and Darragh Bohannon (free) got points for the winners. Dean Ruane then got a goal from a penalty for Corofin, which was to be their last score. The Gaels-Kilmihil had a David Killeen point followed by a goal each from Darragh Bohannon and Chris O’Connor.
The winners had good performances from defenders Eoin Keane, Michael McNamara and Cian Moloney. Darragh Bohannon and David Kelly got the better of the midfield exchanges while up front Chris O’Connor and David Killeen were a constant threat. For Corofin, Aidan Collins, Damien O’Loughlin, Dean Ruane and Cillian Clancy all played well.

Lissycasey held the Banner scoreless in the opening half of this U-16B game on Saturday. It was 2-6 to 0-0 after 30 minutes, with the Lissycasey scores coming from Cathal Fitzgerald 1-0, Paraic McNamara 1-0, Gary Stephens 0-2, Niall McCarthy 0-1, Eric Griffin 0-1, David Cleary 0-1 and Bryan McSweeney 0-1.
The second-half scorers were Gary Stephens 2-0, Paraic McNamara 1-1 and Niall McCarthy 0-2.

Cooraclare 2-15 St Breckan’s 2-09
Cooraclare maintained their unbeaten run in the U-16 Division 1 Championship with a 2-15 to 2-09 victory over St Breckan’s. The Lisdoonvarna side had the better start and were 1-1 to 0-1 up after 10 minutes. Cooraclare clawed their way back into the game and were only a point behind at the half-time whistle.
Strong performances from a number of key Cooraclare players allowed the winners to dominate the second half of the game. Five points from Rory McLoone as well as 1-4 from Jack Morrissey was added to by Pearse Lillis, who claimed 1-2. Shane O’Donoghue also scored 0-3.
Strong displays from the Cooraclare defenders Killian Burke and Niall Kelly helped to keep Cooraclare on top. Scorers for Breckan’s were Rowan Danaher 1-5, James Howard 1-1, Conor Shanahan 0-2 and Jonah Culligan 0-1. Liam O’Sullivan played well in goals for Breckan’s while Cathal Guerin and Evan Barrett did well in the backs, with Rowa Danaher and Conor Shanahan dominant up front.
Kilrush 2-10 Clarecastle 1-4
Kilrush resumed winning ways with a comprehensive win over Clarecastle in the B title race at Kilrush last Saturday. Mickey Dunne opened the scoring after three minutes with a point followed by a goal by Davy Foran. Clarecastle replied with a goal scored by Josh Kelly.
Points by Noel Keating, Davy Foran (2) and Killian Glynn restored the winner’s comfortable lead.
In the 22nd minute a great move started in the backline by Tom Birmingham and involving Killian Glynn and Johnny Williams resulted in a great team goal by Davy Foran.
The half-time score was 2-6 to 1-1 in favour of the winners, who were denied a third goal just before the half-time whistle when the visitor’s goalie made an excellent save.
The second half started with a point from Clarecastle’s Jack Hayes before Kilrush put over points from Ryan Ellis and Mickey Dunne. In the 18thminute, Colm Pyne scored a long-range free from 45m and this, followed by a Davy Foran point, eased Kilrush further clear. Clarecastle concluded the scoring with two points by Michael McDermott.
Kilrush were the dominant team on the day, with Davy Foran and Killian Glynn key players while Stephen Barry and Michael McDermott played well for Clarecastle.
Coolmeen/Kildysart 2-11 Liscannor/Michael Cusack’s/Kilfenora 0-7
Coolmeen/Kildysart defeated Liscannor/Michael Cusack’s/Kilfenora in the U-16B Football Championship on Saturday.
The winners started with a point by Cian Murphy and this early score settled the team. Further points by Ben Cleary, Alan Normoyle, Barry Crehan, Cian Murphy, Aaron Slobody and Stephen Sheehan extended the lead and at half-time they were 0-8 to 0-0 in front.
A brilliant goal from Mark Meaney set the tone for the second half. Further goals from Alan Normoyle and Ben Cleary confirmed the victory. Eric Scanlon, Alan Cunningham, Jack Sheehan and David Cusack impressed when introduced as substitutes in the second half.
