Find out where you should complain

The new edition of Where to Complain is now available from the citizens information centres throughout Clare.
This comprehensive guide for public service users and consumers gives contact details of over 160 enforcement and redress bodies, at both national and EU level.
“Citizens, consumers, customers and clients all have rights, not just to services but also to certain standards in the delivery of those services. This booklet is a guide to ensuring that you get the services to which you are entitled and that you know how to go about getting redress if you do not,” says Paul Woulfe, manager of the Clare Information Service.
The book is concerned with a very wide range of bodies, both statutory and non-statutory.
It includes bodies which enforce rights to public services such as income maintenance, health services and education; bodies which regulate various industries and professions; bodies which enforce laws in relation to the environment and the provision of financial services; bodies which can help you if the goods you bought are not fit for their purpose and bodies which can ensure that your employment rights are respected.
“The Citizens Information Board is mainly concerned with ensuring that you have information on your rights and entitlements. This booklet aims to ensure that you know how to enforce those rights and entitlements. It does not set out your rights but it does tell you what bodies exist to help you to enforce those rights.
“It also includes many bodies which do not have a specific function of helping you to enforce your rights but which may, nevertheless, be able to help you to do so. These include bodies which are primarily representative but which aim to maintain high standards within their field,” adds Mr Woulfe.
The book which is available free of charge can be obtained by calling Ennis CIC at 065 6841221. It is aimed primarily at individuals who are users of services and consumers of goods.
