Final places decided

The Clare Community Games Cycling competitions for boys and girls U-12 and U-14 were held last Saturday last in Quin. The event was co-ordinated by county chairman, Pat Taylor.

The entries were low, with only four areas participating. Barry Loughnane has again qualified for the national finals. All gold medal winners will go on to represent Clare in the national finals in Athlone IT on the weekend of May 25 to 27.

Girls’ U-14

Boys’ U-14
1 Barry Loughnane (Quin/Clooney); 2 Kevin Caulfield (Tulla); 3 James McGrath (Tulla).
Girls’ U-12
1 Aishling McGrath (Quin/Clooney); 2 Tierna O’Shea (Cratloe); 3 Clare Daly (Cratloe).
Boys’ U-12
1 Alex McConway (Quin/Clooney); 2 Fintan Caulfield (Tulla); 3 Darren O’Brien (Ennis); 4 Mathew Gardiner (Cratloe); 5 John Daly (Cratloe).

Girls’ U-13 futsal
St Flannan’s College was the venue for the girls’ U-13 futsal competition at the weekend, when Flan Brennan from Ennis St John’s was the co-ordinator.
The gold medal winners were Miltown Malbay, whose team members were Áine and Eimear Keane, Aoife Hehir, Gráinne Meade, Aisling Clancy, Gráinne Lynch, Áine Talty and Niamh Blake.
Ennistymon-Lahinch-Liscannor were the silver medal winners and their team included Meg Brennan, Orlaith Considine, Chria Guerin, Lisa Conneely, Karen Hillary, Aoife Nagle, Amy O’Donoghue and Muireann Haugh.
In the bronze medal position were Ennis St John’s, whose team comprised Natalia Frankulewska, Katie Shannon, Aisling Kennelly, Alma Conway, Khadiat Alabiyi, Felecia Junaid, Erin Hehir and Cloe Garland.
Inch-Connolly-Kilmaley won the fourth place certificates and their team included Eimear Kennedy, Fia Coote, Caoimhe Carmody, Emily Cahill, Martina Keane, Emma Pyne and Gráinne Glynn.
St Flannan’s was also the venue for the boys’ U-13 competition and the winners were Ennis St John’s A, whose team members are Robbie Woods, Adam Gleeson, Kevin O’Connor, Michael Kenny, Fionn Nolan, Jake Ryan, Stephen Kennedy and Harry Talty.
In second place were Inch-Connolly-Kilmaley and their team members were Nathan Vaughan, Jack Colleran, David Kelly, Tom O’Rourke, Conor Devitt, Daragh Hickey, Peter Ronan and Conor O’Rourke.
Ennis St John’s B won the bronze medals, with Jack Connolly, Ikem Ugwueru, Brian Haren, Ronan Lanagan, Philip Talty, Nathen Coote and Ronan Collins in their team.

Swimming
Ennistymon/­Lahinch/Liscannor Community Games area swimming finals were held at Seaworld, Lahinch, last Friday.
First and second-placed competitors will now go forward to the county finals at Ennis swimming pool on Thursday, May 17, where they can only compete in one event apart from the team events.
