Éire Óg scored a comprehensive win over Ogonnelloe in the opening round of the intermediate championship at Dr Daly Park in Tulla on Sunday.
The Ennis side played against the wind in the first half and were on the road to victory at half-time when they held a three-point lead, 0-7 to 0-4.
They held the upperhand throughout the second half but had to wait until just before the full-time whistle for their goal, which came from substitute John Lawlor.
Danny Russell with eight and Davy O’Halloran, with four, were the Ennis side’s main point scorers on the day. Veteran John McKenna scored three points for the East Clare side and Kieran Forde got the other two.
A couple of weeks ago the sides met in the league and the Ennis outfit were also comprehensive winners on that occasion.

Feakle 1-20  Meelick 1-12

FEAKLE bounced back to winning ways and got their championship campaign off to a winning start when they accounted for Meelick at windswept Shannon on Sunday.
Playing with the aid of the wind in the first half, Feakle laid the foundations for the win when they built up a 1-14 to 0-5 lead, the goal coming from Cillian Bane.
Helped by a goal from substitute Greg Daly, the South-East Clare side hit back strongly in the second half but a better balanced Feakle held firm and when the final whistle sounded, they were deserving winners.
Gary Guilfoyle was the winners’ top scorer with a dozen points to his credit. Sean O’Connor was Meelick’s top scorer with 0-6.

Corofin 2-11  Ennistymon 1-6

COROFIN had to pull out all the stops to overcome North Clare neighbours Ennistymon in their first-round tie at Inagh on Sunday.
Underdogs Ennistymon played against the breeze in the opening half and succeeded in doing very well. Corofin’s goal came just before half-time from Stephen Heagney and helped the winners to lead by three points at half-time when the score was 1-6 to 1-3. The Ennistymon goal came from Robbie McDonagh.
They stepped up their performance on the resumption, while Ennistymon tired a little in the closing stages.
Stephen Heagney was the winners’ top scorer with 1-6 to his credit, while his brother Kevin contributed 1-1. Points also came from Damian Ryan and Neil Killeen on a day when the winners were without the services of the injured Gerry Quinn. Cathal Malone accounted for all of Ennistymon’s points.
