Fashionable sum raised by No Name Club

OVER €4,000 has been raised through a charity fashion show that was organised by teenagers from Gort No Name Club and brought over 300 people out. The event was held at The Centre on Friday, March 25 and brought people from the local community and surrounding regions together to raise money for Croí.

Aoife O’Shea, a No Name Club teenage member whose father passed away suddenly from a heart condition last October, organised the fundraiser with the assistance of the club hosts and hostesses and adult committee members of Gort No Name Club. They brought people from Gort, Kinvara, Ennis and surrounding communities together for the fundraiser to support the charity, which is working to reduce the impact of heart disease and stroke on families living in the West of Ireland.
Local businesses paid a contribution towards the event to have their clothing featured in it and the models came from Gort No Name Club, Gort ICA, Coole Soccer Club and the local community.
Businesses, community groups and local people came together on the night to assist with the running of the show. Musical entertainment was provided by Kyle na Nó String Quartet from Coole Music with Biddy and Dan, also known as Niall Perrill and Aisling Egan, delivering the comedic entertainment.
“I’m delighted with how the show went. This was a great project to work on and it will help Croí in its aim to deliver the highest levels of cardiovascular care to people in the West,” Aoife commented.
Trish Beakey, secretary of Gort No Name Club, said, “The show was a huge success and brought the community of Gort and surrounding towns together for a very worthy, charitable cause. We are so grateful for the support we received from local people, businesses and clubs and organisations that got behind the event and made it the success it was. We were delighted to see a crowd of over 300 come out to support it and the money raised will support Croí in the excellent work it does. I’d like to pay tribute to Aoife, Karen Moran and the No Name Club teenagers in particular for the outstanding work they did to put this show together. They should be very proud of their success and it highlights the kind of excellent work young people can carry out, when they are entrusted with responsibility and provided with support,” she said.
Con Nolan, No Name Club CEO, attended the event.
“The No Name Club is a national organisation that works with young people in communities across Ireland to develop their leadership skills. The work of Aoife and her colleagues in Gort No Name Club is in keeping with the positive attitude we encourage amongour teenage members. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Aoife, Gort No Name Club’s hosts and hostesses, the club’s adult committee and the wider community in delivering this excellent event for a very worthy cause,” he commented.
