Fashion fundraiser for Barefield NS

An extravaganza of designs and creations to whet the appetites of the fashion lovers, as well as of those looking for quality outfits or useful tips, is currently being planned by the Parents’ Council of Barefield National School in conjunction with the school’s fundraising committee.

The models of the Holman Lee Agency will grace the catwalk at the Auburn Lodge on October 25 to showcase the latest trends.

According to a spokesperson for the organisers, “Weeks of planning and preparation have already taken place to ensure the fashion show planned for that night contains that vital mix of the practical and the magical.

“The schoolchildren have entered into the spirit of the occasion by designing a fantastic selection of artistic posters to advertise the occasion and to judge by the quality of the exhibits, many of the artists may well have exciting careers in the fashion industry themselves.”

Currently, the school is involved in a number of literacy improvement projects such as The Literacy Lift-Off Programme and The Building Bridges Of Understanding Programme as well as The Accelerated Reading Library Programme.

“These programmes have involved a significant financial outlay and all funds raised will be channelled towards these areas and towards the provision of a large outdoor shelter for children in inclement weather conditions,” the spokesperson added.

Parents and teachers have been busy promoting the event among the school and wider community and local business interests have given their support.

Those attending will be in with a chance to win one of many spot prizes, while well-known local and international artist Carmel Madigan has also donated a painting to be raffled on the night. Nigel Bridge will act as MC for the event. Tickets for the event are on sale and may be collected directly from the school or by contacting the school at 065 6820303.
