Exciting Féile hurling final expected

SIXMILEBRIDGE and Inagh-Kilnamona will compete for the Clare Féile hurling title at Clarecastle at noon this Saturday.
They qualified for the final with wins over O’Callaghan’s Mills-Bodyke and Kilmaley respectively last weekend.
The Bridge had a 2-8 to 1–3 win over last year’s U-14 champions, while Inagh-Kilnamona were 3-12 to 1-4 winners over Kilmaley.

An exciting final is expected with Inagh-Kilnamona fancied to capture the title following their wins over a fancied Doora-Barefield side and the defending champions, Kilmaley.

Sixmilebridge 2-8    Bodyke/O’Callaghan’s Mills 1-3

IN the Sixmilebridge game, all scores came from play. The winners were 1-7 to 0-2 in front at the break after playing with the aid of the wind. Conor Hassett accounted for 1-5 of that total. Paul Corry and Christopher Carey scored 0-1 each, while Oran Tracey and Jack Minogue were on target for the amalgamation.

The ’Bridge defended bravely in the second half, which was much tighter and low scoring.

It took the Mills-Bodyke 14 minutes to score in the second half when centre-back Cian Minogue pointed. The game was very intense and at this stage, Gary Cooney was introduced to the edge of the square for the last 10 minutes in an effort to pull the game out of the fire. However, in the 27th minute, Conor Hassett had his and his side’s second goal to book their final place. Gary Cooney replied with a superb goal in the 29th minute but it was too late to save the day.

Gary Cooney, unable to start due to a back injury, was a huge loss to his side but Cian Minogue, Oran Tracey and Sean Murphy were always in the thick of the action.

The winners hit back strongly and scored 2-4 without reply to take control of the tie. The goals came from Mark Barry and David Mescall and helped them to a 2-8 to 1-1 half-time lead.
