Ennistymon take victory in North Clare derby

Ennistymon 0-15   Corofin 1-9

Ennistymon scored a merited three-point win in this North Clare derby Division 2 hurling tie in Corofin last Saturday evening.

The home side were first to score, with a point in the second minute.Ennistymon responded swiftly with a like score from Cathal Malone and by the 10th minute, Ennistymon were three clear with a further two from Malone and one from Tadhg Malone. Corofin replied with two pointed frees before Ennistymon, with the wind to their backs, pointed seven glorious points from play, two from Michael McDonagh, four from Cathal Malone and one from Tommy Hogan, leaving the half-time score at 0-11 to 0-5 in favour of the winners.
Robbie McDonagh put his side seven clear five minutes into the second half before Declan Lee latched on to a breaking ball following a great save from Cathal McDonagh to give Corofin the all-important goal and put them back in contention. Corofin tacked on another point to put three between the sides. Cathal Malone responded to put Ennistymon four up again but Corofin replied with another two points to stay in contention. Ennistymon were not going to be denied a rare victory over their neighbours and Cathal Malone closed out the game with two well-taken points.

Ogonnelloe 3-7   Sixmilebridge 0-11

Ogonnelloe recorded their first win this season when they accounted for leaders Sixmilebridge on Sunday.
Three first-half goals from Patrick Barton, Danny Cunnane and Peter O’Brien laid the foundations for the win, as Ogonnelloe went to the break with an eight-point advantage, having played with the wind in the opening half.
Sixmilebridge piled on the pressure after the break but the Ogonnelloe defence held firm.

Ruan had an easy win over an understrength Killanena side at the weekend and, as a result, have moved to the top of the league table.
Two goals each from Aidan Lynch and Eoin Hanrahan helped the winners run up an impressive tally.

Crusheen kept up their challenge for a place in the play-offs with this win over Scariff on Sunday. Patrick O’Grady scored their first goal and they sealed victory with a Dara O’Doherty goal from a free in the last minute of the game.
