Ennistymon girls take Western title

SCOIL Mhuire Ennistymon won the western regional final of the Secondary Schools Girls’ Second Year Basketball League with a 34-9 victory over Salerno from Salthill.

As a result of this success, the North Clare girls will now compete in the play-offs at Causeway in Kerry on Saturday, May 14.
Amongst the teams competing on that occasion will be Castleblayney from Monaghan, Coláiste an Phiarsaigh from Glanmire in Cork, Listowel from Kerry and Christ the King from Cork.
The Ennistymon team is captained by Laoise Buchholtz who scored two points in the final. The top scorer on that occasion was Ashling O’Connell with 10 points, while other scores came from Sara Leigh (9), Niamh Hogan (6) Lynn O’Doherty (4) , Triona Egan (2) and Ciara O’Connell (1).
The team is coached by Stephen Leigh and Carmel Eustace.
