CORK dual player Eoin Cadogan was the guest of honour at the Ennistymon Minor Football Club victory celebration, which took place at The Falls Hotel on Saturday night.

The special guests were the members of the U-14 panel, who won five titles in 2012. Their first success came with a 5-12 to 0-2 win over Kilrush in the Clare Féile final.

As a result of this success, they went on to represent the county in the National Féile competition, which was hosted by Laois-Offaly. Competing in Division 5, they had wins over Der Gaels, Rosenallis, Hertfordshire and St Rynagh’s (Offaly) before overcoming Warwickshire in the final on a 1-5 to 1-4 scoreline.

In the annual Garda Tournament, they were 2-8 to 1-2 winners over Doora-Barefield and they beat the same opposition in the final of the Joe McCaw Cup (2-9 to 2-6). Both of these competitions were for U-13s.

In the U-14A championship, they met North Clare neighbours St Breckan’s in the final and after a draw (1-10 for Ennistymon to 2-7), they won the replay by two points, 2-9 to 2-7.

In the early rounds of that competition, the North Clare club suffered defeats from Wolfe Tones, St Breckan’s and Doora-Barefield before beating Kilrush, Éire Óg and Kilmurry-Ibrickane on their way to finishing in third spot in the group.

They beat Doora-Barefield in the semi-final, having beaten the same opposition in the Féile semi-final earlier in the season.

The U-13 and U-14 mentors were Gerry Murphy, Brendan O’Doherty and Michael Rouine.
