Ennis NS through to Munster final

Ennis national school’s girls tennis team are through to the final of the Munster primary schools tennis competition.

The team members are Chris Kearney (captain) Niamh O’Shea, Karen McNamara and Shauna Kearney.
St Flannan’s U-16 and U-19 teams were unlucky to lose out in their semi-final matches against Newtown school from Waterford City and Cashel community school respectively on a 3-2 scoreline. The Ennis lads led 2-1 going into the final games of doubles but lost them both on tie break sets.
In singles Nathan Darcy lost 3-6, 0-6 to M Tracy, the number five in Munster. Mark Duffy won 6-4 and 6-4. Conor Ryan and Douglas Reddan won 6-3 and 6-4. Nathan Darcy and Douglas Reddan lost 4-6, 6-3 and 8-10 while Mark Duffy and Conor Ryan lost 4-6 and 6-7.
In U-19 Michael McMahon(captain) won 4-6, 6-4 and 10-8 and Ciaran O’Brien won 6-1 and 6-3 in the singles.
In the first doubles Eoin Cox and Liam Mullins lost 2-6 and 3-6. In the final doubles Michael McMahon and Eoin Cox lost 3-6, 6-4 and 8-10 while Ciaran O’Brien and Liam Mullins lost 4-6, 6-3 and 8-10.
