THE late Josef Pavelka, who made international headlines for living homeless in a public toilet in Ennis, is to be buried in Drumcliffe Cemetery and will not be repatriated back to his native Czech Republic.
Gardaí and the county coroner had been liaising with family through the Czech Embassy to make arrangements for the funeral of the 52-year-old construction worker, who died suddenly in Ennis on May 4.
Mr Pavelka was found dead in a laneway off O’Connell Street but gardaí ruled out foul play.
It has emerged that a local undertaker has been asked to organise the funeral arrangements and the HSE will assume responsibility for the burial.
A candlelit vigil was held for Mr Pavelka on Wednesday last in Ennis when a large gathering of friends came to Thomson’s Lane to pay their respects.
