If you go down to the woods in May you are sure of a big surprise. The invitation is to everyone to come on out to Dromore Woods in Ruan on Sunday, May 12 at 12 noon to experience the magic of a place that is beautiful, peaceful and where one can reach into the very depths of their own souls.

The magic of the woods is coming alive after a long winter’s sleep. The forest floor is teeming with wildlife and the big oak and sycamore trees are hiding the squirrels and pine martins along with all the species of birds that nest in the tree branches.

The swans are building their raft nests to float with the different lake levels and as strollers pass by the lake edge, the lapping waters against the little cliff ledges make a beautiful sound.

It is a place to be alone or with your family or friends to experience the peace that comes dropping down. There will be music in the trees as people sit and have a snack to take in the peace of this beautiful area. The stroll is the brainchild of Dermot Ryan, who is taking part in the 250-mile cycle to raise funds for cancer care and to send people to Lourdes for healing.

The stroll will begin at the car park at Dromore Woods with registration at 12.30pm for a 1pm start. It will be a guided stroll and people are asked to bring suitable walking and weather gear as well as a packed lunch, as there will be stops along the water to sit on the mossy banks to saviour the beauty of the forest.

Support would be greatly appreciated and for more information, contact Dermot on 086 0810291.
