Doora- Barefield take control in second half

Doora-Barefield 4-10
Clarecastle 1-8

DOORA-Barefield captured the U-14 Special Hurling Championship title when they recorded a comprehensive win over Clarecastle in this final replay at sunny Ruan on Friday evening.

The young Magpies led the way in the first half and were three points clear when the half-time whistle sounded, 1-8 to 2-2. Cian McNamara was their goalscorer, while Lee Brack hit five points.
Goals from Fintan O’Halloran and Conor Kerins kept the Doora-Barefield outfit in touch and they went on to dominate the second half when Clarecastle, surprisingly, were held scoreless. An injury to Brack limited his movement and this was a blow to their hopes of victory.
Further goals from Cillian Flanagan and the impressive Keith Shea played a big part in Doora-Barefield’s win on a day when centre-back, Niall O’Brien, rounded off a great victory for the club with an inspirational point.
Luke Carmody, Niall O’Brien, Paddy Kenny and Keith Shea impressed for the winners, while Clarecastle’s best were Mark Russell, Owen O’Hara, Eoin Collins, Killian McDermott and Ruairi Power.
