DUSTY the Doolin dolphin kept her cool this week, with no reports of further injuries to swimmers.
The public have been warned to avoid her following a number of incidents and according to Joan Reilly of Doolin2Aran Ferries, things have improved in recent days.
“Things seemed to have slowed down a bit, people are very aware of the situation. Plus, the weather has cooled down so there aren’t as many people trying to swim. One of the marine biologists said that she might actually be a bit lonely and she might calm down a bit and be looking for company now. But at the same time the message is still very clear, nobody is to swim with her. Most people are fine with that.”
Simon Berrow of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group said he wasn’t aware of any incidents involving Dusty over recent days. “I’ve heard that very few people have entered the water which is good and I haven’t heard of any incidents. We have a guy up there, Jamie Storer, and he’d hear of anything I think.”
