Division 5 honours for Cooraclare

Cooraclare 0-9   Clondegad 0-8

Cooraclare were crowned Division 5 Football League champions at Kilmihil on Saturday evening when they pipped Clondegad, who were chasing back-to-back league successes.

This group won Division 6 honours last year and came within a whisker of landing the Division 5 title at the weekend.

Darragh O’Dea was the Cooraclare hero, landing the winning point shortly before the whistle.
Clondegad played with the aid of the breeze in the opening half and they took a five-point lead to the break, 0-7 to 0-2.

The winners’ first-half scorers were Andrew O’Neill and O’Dea while Clondegad’s points came from Flan Enright, Eoghan Glynn, Pat Coffey, Declan Keane and Niall Deasy.

Midfielder O’Neill had early second-half points for the winners and other scores followed from Kieran Hassett, Cathal Murphy, Colin Kelly and O’Dea to seal victory. Eoghan Glynn was Clondegad’s second-half point scorer.
After the game, John Meade from the Clare CCC presented the cup to the winning captain, Michael Honan.
