Division 3 title for Cratloe

Cratloe 2-12
St Breckan’s 0-7

CRATLOE were crowned Division 3 Football League champions at Hennessy Park in Miltown on Saturday when they scored a comfortable win over St Breckan’s.

The win came a couple of weeks after they were crowned U-21A champions and just four days after they recorded a two-goal win over Kilmihil in the semi-final. That game was played on the previous Wednesday night under lights in Cooraclare.
At the end of a hard-fought first half, Cratloe led by four points, 1-4 to 0-3, the goal coming from Paudge Collins. The second half was expected to be as close but a fitter Cratloe side got on top and dictated matters.
Substitute Patrick O’Gorman was the winners’ goalscorer in this period as an understrength Lisdoonvarna outfit struggled in the absence of players, including Denis O’Driscoll and Conor Cormican.
St Breckan’s haven’t had a game in the past two months and this was reflected in their play, as they tired noticeably in the second period.
After the game, Clare GAA’s cultural officer, Tom Burke, presented the cup to the winners’ captain, Sean Chaplin.
