Daghdha to present show at top London gallery

THE Limerick-based Daghdha Dance Company is presenting a unique dance exhibition, demonstrating the relationship between choreography and fine arts since the 1960s.

As part of their major exhibition Move, which runs until January, the movement, entitled Choreography for Blackboards, will be presented in the Grand Terrace, The Hayward Gallery, London on November 26 and 27.
Daghdha was invited by head-curator Stephanie Rosenthal to present the show in the top London gallery.
Contributors to the entire dance exhibition, Move, include Trisha Brown, Rosemary Butcher, Boris Charmatz, Siobhan Davies, William Forsythe, Wayne Mc Gregor, Yvonne Rainer, Tino Seghal and others. The exhibition is supported by Culture Ireland.
Originally premiered at Daghdha Space in Limerick in 2006, Klien’s Choreography for Blackboards, is a carefully constructed choreographic work of seven participants drawing on seven monolithic blackboards spread throughout a large open space over a set period of time.
Prior to the London performance, Daghdha will present Gravity and Grace in its dance space in St John’s Church, John’s Square, Limerick on November 10 to 13. The production is in association with Limerick City Council, the Arts Council, FÁS and Culture Ireland. The Gravity and Grace schedule will include an abundance of home-grown, local produce. This performance series provides a rare opportunity to see extraordinary dance without any representational décor. It is programmed by artistic director Michael Kliën, and will feature the work of dance artists and choreographers Kaspar Aus, Mark Carberry, Laura Dannequin,, Jesse den Dulk, Ellen Kilsgaard, Edd Schouten, Lucy Suggate and more.
