Cunnane’s time drawing to a close


SHANNON Development CEO Dr Vincent Cunnane’s involvement with the body is set to come to an end in the coming weeks.

 

This week the Department of Transport were asked if he would be involved in the new entity, Shannon Group, which will be charged with running the Airport and what is now Shannon Development’s property portfolio. In responed that “Dr Vincent Cunnane’s contract as CEO of Shannon Development expires on August 31, 2013.”

A body called Shannon Commercial Enterprises Ltd is set to replace a stripped down Shannon Development, with its function being to manage the body’s property portfolio. The department confirmed that it will still hold properties beyond the Shannon Free Zone.

“Yes, Shannon Commercial Enterprises Ltd will continue to hold the property assets of Shannon Development,” the statement continued. The department also confirmed that Shannon Heritage’s assets will be left with Shannon Group.
The Clare Champion asked if the board of Shannon Airport Authority would become the board of Shannon Group, after the entity is founded and would Shannon Development representatives be included.

In response, the department said, “It is intended that members of the board of Shannon Airport Authority will become members of the Shannon Group board once established. There are already three members from the Shannon Development Board on the Shannon Airport Authority Board.”

It stated Shannon Commercial Enterprises Ltd, which will replace Shannon Development, will have its own board, the membership of which will be a matter for Shannon Group.
